Consent For Identifying Information

Regarding permission to publish identifying information, the Journal complies with the guidelines established by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). Manuscripts that contain data, photos, or material that can be used to personally identify a patient or an individual will not be accepted for publication.

If the identity of the person, such as clinical photos, name, address, contact information, or their medical history, is disclosed in the publication, the author must obtain written agreement from the patient/individual.

If the author determines it is necessary to use patient information such as name, address, medical history, clinical findings, reports of investigations, etc. in the manuscript for research, the author must submit a written consent from the patient or from the next of kin, in the case of patients who are unconscious, unable to comprehend or write, or expired.

However, images like X-rays, ultrasound, CT, and MRI scan images, among others, can be used if the patient's name and other identifying information are obscured from them. The manuscript may be rejected if it does not adhere to the regulations governing the patient's privacy.

The only exceptions are when the patient or the patient's family cannot be located or when using the patient's personal information for research or public health purposes is urgently required. Even in these situations, the Editorial Board's decision on whether or not to publish the submission without compromising the patient's right for personal privacy is final.
